Quick-dry polyester means he's not sitting in wet fabric on the ride home, and the elastic waistband with flat seams keeps things comfortable through hours of play without chafing. Machine washable, so pool chlorine and sand rinse straight out.

The elastic waistband is reinforced at the seams specifically because it's the first part of swimwear to wear out under repeated pool chemical exposure, well before the main fabric shows any wear.
